Hygiene and health pests

Transmit pathogens such as: Viruses, bacteria, plasmodia, borrelia and flagellates. Hygiene or health pests can severely damage the health of humans and animals by causing allergies and dangerous diseases.

They infect humans and animals with pathogens by biting or stinging in order to use human blood as a food source. On the other hand, health pests can contaminate food with their excretions.

Hygienic pests or health pests are parasites, these include:

  • Mosquitoes, flies, horseflies, bedbugs, ticks, fleas and lice

Disease vectors of pathogenic bacteria to food are:

  • Cockroaches, pharaoh ants

Tropical diseases such as malaria, dengue and Zika are transmitted by mosquito bites
